(Wed, 10 May 2017) Miscellaneous Electric Loads (MELs) comprise a growing portion of delivered energy consumption in residential and commercial buildings. Miscellaneous end uses—including televisions, personal computers, security systems, data center servers, and many other devices—have continued to penetrate into building-related market segments. Part of this proliferation of devices and equipment can be attributed to increased service demand for entertainment, computing, and convenience appliances.

Data from the 2015 Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS) show that, as of 2015, most homes in the United States used more than one type of lightbulb, primarily a mix of incandescent and compact fluorescent (CFL).

(Fri, 05 May 2017) Nuclear plants in Illinois have provided about half of the state’s total electricity generation since 2010, and two nuclear plants in particular—Quad Cities and Clinton—together provided more than 12% of the state’s electricity generation over the past several years.

OPEC crude output in April averaged 31.85 million b/d, flat from March,
