It is strategically located amid important routes for seaborne energy trade. Rising domestic and regional energy demand has prompted Malaysia to invest in upstream oil and natural gas projects and in downstream infrastructure such as oil and natural gas import terminals, storage facilities, and refining capacity to ensure adequate energy supply.
